Meet the Team

Styliani 'Laila' Liakouras DVM BA MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Laila hails from Chicago in the USA.  She first earned a degree in Biology from North Park University in the States before moving to Europe to reconnect with her roots and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Artistotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.  After qualifying as a vet Laila undertook further training in Greece as an intern for Small Animal Surgery at the University and then as a Small Animal Anaesthesia and Analgesia intern at Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA before coming to the UK as an intern in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bristol.  After working in small animal veterinary practice for a while, Laila joined the Goddard Group and the team at Caterham in August 2016.

As a tried and true city girl, Laila loves a night at the theatre and indulging in good food.  In the autumn she spends most Sundays watching her beloved American football team.  Laila lives with her handsome ginger cat who has travelled the world with her.

Hilda Evans MVB Cert VOphthal MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Hilda joined the team at Caterham in 2016.  She graduated from University College Dublin in 1985 and 18 months after graduation Hilda came to England and has worked in small animal practice in both the charity and private sectors ever since.  In 1993 Hilda gained the Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology (eye disease in dogs and cats).  Outside of work Hilda enjoys time with her family, gardening and walking.  She lost her pet cat Rachel, a blind British shorthair in the summer of 2016, but is currently looking after Katie, a lively domestic shorthair for an elderly aunt.


Fiona Minter Registered Veterinary Nurse - Head Nurse

Fiona joined the practice in 2004 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2008. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing and is Head Nurse for the Caterham and Purley branches. Fiona has one very cheeky tabby rescue cat called 'George' who is always the centre of attention.

Bobbie Stride - Veterinary Nursing Assistant

Bobbie joined GVG in June 2012 working at the Stone Lion our hospital in Wimbledon. She then transferred to the Chessington branch to complete her Veterinary Care Assistant qualification and joined the team at Caterham in 2014 so that she could further her studies and begin training to become a qualified veterinary nurse.  Bobbie has two rescue cats Sebastian and Itta, two rescue guinea pigs called Chunk and Finn and a  three legged rescue dog called Wagger.


Megan Freeman - Veterinary Nursing Assistant

Megan joined the practice in May 2013, and is currently training to be a veterinary care assistant. She hopes to then start training to be a veterinary nurse. Megan enjoys all aspects of work. She enjoys going for long walks with her chocolate Labrador Echo. She has recently adopted a cat called Niblet.

Courtney Habberley - Veterinary Nursing Assistant

Courtney joined the team in 2017 after completing her Animal Care course.  Courtney has previous experience of working in kennels, a zoo and a farm.  In her spare time she likes to skateboard with her big dog Nelly.


Anne Harford-Flynn - Head Receptionist

Anne hails from Ireland and has many years experience in various aspects of the veterinary profession. She joined GVG in April 2014 and is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of developing a very exciting practice. Her cat Rua, meaning red haired or foxy in Irish, is a rescue who needs lots of care due to damaged eyes when just a kitten. In her spare timeAnne volunteers with a Crisis support group and loves to keep fit with Zumba.

Trish King - Deputy Head Receptionist

Trish has worked on reception at the Caterham surgery since 2008. She loves long walks with her two gorgeous golden retrievers Bailey and Brie, as well as family time, elephants, conservation and is a self-confessed tree hugger!


Rebecca Layson - Receptionist

Rebecca joined the team at Caterham in 2014 when she  returned to work after having a beautiful baby girl. Rebecca used to be a dental nurse and decided to have a complete change of career when she joined GVG. Rebecca loves animals and has always had cats growing up. She currently has three cats and is planning on getting a dog when her daughter is a bit older.
